The 2023 Riesling Kiedricher Gräfenberg Spätlese immediately parades its exquisitely pure nature that displays the ripe, crushed flesh of yellow peach as well as peach compote. The palate has gentleness and sweetness at first, but then gorgeous acid kicks in, outlining every detail and highlighting each nuance like a laser light. Simply exquisite, simply beautiful, thrilling and oh so pure—wow, what a glorious wine.

A giant Spatlese, but in terms of depth and expression, not in sheer volume or density. A deep well of stone fruit, mandarin oranges, hibiscus and gardenias. Terrific concentration at the tightly wound core on the medium-bodied palate. Then comes the extraordinary lift of wet stone acidity that flows through the very long, pristine finish.

Robert Weil Kiedrich Gräfenberg Riesling Spätlese from the Rheingau is a luxurious, finely balanced expression of late-harvest Riesling that perfectly captures the harmony of sweetness, acidity, and mineral depth. Sourced from one of Germany’s most esteemed Grand Cru vineyards, this wine offers richness without heaviness and elegance without restraint.

The Gräfenberg vineyard is a steep, southwest-facing slope composed of stony phyllite soils that provide excellent drainage and impart a signature minerality to the wines. This site has a long history of producing world-class Rieslings, and under the care of Wilhelm Weil, it continues to be a benchmark for both dry and off-dry styles. The Spätlese represents a moment of perfect ripeness—harvested late, with just a kiss of botrytis, bringing complexity and textural finesse.

Winemaking is focused on purity and balance. Grapes are hand harvested in multiple passes through the vineyard to select only the ripest, healthiest bunches. Fermentation is cool and slow in stainless steel, preserving aromatics and bright acidity, while allowing the wine to develop depth and nuance.

In the glass, the wine opens with aromas of ripe peach, mandarin, honeyed pear, and orange blossom. The palate is silky and layered, offering luscious fruit sweetness lifted by razor-sharp acidity and underscored by a stony, slate-driven finish that keeps it vibrant and long.

This is a wine built for the table and the cellar—ideal with spicy Thai dishes, pâté, roasted duck with fruit glaze, or simply sipped slowly to appreciate its quiet complexity.
