An intense and perfumed wine full of violets, blood oranges, red cherries and pepper. The attack is soft, with a medium body, velvety tannins, crisp acidity and a savory finish. Juicy and delicious. Drink or hold.

Uccelliera Rosso di Montalcino is a beautifully expressive and finely structured Sangiovese that captures the purity and elegance of this prized Tuscan hillside. Uccelliera sits on the northern slopes of Montalcino, where altitude, cooler temperatures and galestro rich soils shape wines with freshness, perfume and detail. The estate has earned a formidable reputation for precision and restraint, and this Rosso is crafted with the same care as their Brunello. Hand harvested fruit is fermented gently, then matured in oak to add shape and savoury depth without masking the vineyard’s natural character. It offers a clear window into the estate’s style and the soul of Montalcino.

The aromas are lifted and refined. Red cherry, wild strawberry and sour plum lead, joined by violet, dried rose and a subtle hint of blood orange. Beneath the fruit sits a classic Tuscan savoury layer of dried herbs, warm earth and a touch of balsamic nuance. With air, notes of leather, sweet spice and terracotta gently emerge, adding complexity and charm.

The palate is poised and beautifully balanced. Bright red fruit flows across fine, chalky tannins that provide structure without heaviness. Flavours of cherry skin, cranberry and pomegranate are supported by lively acidity, giving the wine energy and length. A savoury finish of herbs, spice and mineral grip lingers, making it both refreshing and food friendly. It is approachable now yet has the balance to develop further over five to eight years, gaining deeper earthy and truffle like nuances.

A natural match for pasta with tomato and herbs, grilled lamb, roast chicken, porcini risotto, cured meats or aged Pecorino. This is Rosso di Montalcino with class and clarity, offering serious pedigree and everyday drinkability in equal measure.
