Cuvée Saint Vincent is Vincent Girardin’s take on a more serious Bourgogne Rouge, built from well chosen parcels across the Côte d’Or and handled with a lighter, more terroir focused touch than in the past. It’s designed to show real Pinot character without the weight or formality of the village wines.
The 2023 vintage is bright and expressive. Red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry lead, with a lift of rose petal and a hint of violet. There is a gentle savoury layer underneath, soft spice, a touch of earth and a whisper of oak adding shape.
On the palate it sits in the light to medium bodied range with silky, fine grained tannins. The fruit is pure and flowing, supported by a line of freshness that keeps everything lively. It finishes with a lightly savoury, spiced edge and a faint mineral note that lingers.
Girardin’s winemaking is restrained and precise, careful extraction and thoughtful élevage allowing the fruit and site to come through cleanly.
This is a great match for dishes that favour finesse. Think duck with cherry, grilled tuna with sesame, or roast chicken with herbs. It also works beautifully with dishes like mushroom and thyme tart, lentil and herb salads, or a simple tomato and olive dish, where the wine’s freshness and gentle structure carry through.
Drinking beautifully now for its brightness and charm, it will hold over the next five to seven years, offering a lively and approachable expression of Burgundy Pinot Noir.
