2023 Winmark Single Vineyard Reserve Chardonnay, Hunter Valley

Green apple, seaspray, toasted almond and nectarine notes delight on the nose. The core is finer than the nose would suggest, currents of flavour appear contained by a line of spicy oak. It's balanced in its youth, though tuck it away for a few years and it will reward with a greater array of flavours and a touch more girth. It's a premium quality chardonnay that's light on its feet. Drink to 2033.

Winmark Wines is the family business of Karin Adcock and Lars Nielson. Based in the Broke-Fordwich side of Hunter Valley, their winery specialises in Chardonnay, and draws on fruit from their excellent vineyard, formerly known as Poole’s Rock. Planted in stages from 1972, the site is planted to numerous clones, including Penfolds, ENTAV 548 and Bernard 95. The vineyard is managed by Broke local Dave Grosser and Perth-born, and now Hunter local, Liz Riley. The wines are made by acclaimed consulting winemaker John Belsham.
