Full-ish purple-red bright and youthful, the bouquet is dusty/herbal and big on stemmy whole-bunch traces. Lots of raspberry bonbon too, both on the nose and palate. The wine is intense and smoothly rounded, with very silky tannins. Spicy, raspberry cherry confection flavours, the finish warm and lingering with charming fruity sweetness.

The Yalumba Vine Vale Grenache from the Barossa Valley is a beautifully expressive wine that pays homage to the purity and elegance of old-vine Grenache. Crafted with meticulous care, this wine reflects Yalumba’s storied history and deep connection to the Barossa, showcasing the nuanced character of the Vine Vale sub-region.

On the nose, this Grenache offers vibrant aromas of red cherries, wild strawberries, and raspberries, complemented by floral notes of rose petals and a hint of dried herbs. Subtle undertones of white pepper, earthy spices, and a touch of cedar add complexity and intrigue.

The palate is medium-bodied and silky, with finely integrated tannins and lively acidity providing balance and freshness. Flavors of juicy red fruits are layered with savory elements of spice, black tea, and a whisper of anise. The finish is long and elegant, leaving a lingering impression of vibrancy and finesse.

Sourced from low-yielding old vines in Vine Vale, the Grenache grapes thrive in deep sandy soils, which contribute to the wine’s aromatic intensity and refined structure. Yalumba’s minimal-intervention winemaking approach, including fermentation with wild yeasts and gentle maturation in seasoned oak, allows the varietal and terroir to shine through with authenticity.

This wine pairs beautifully with Mediterranean-inspired dishes such as grilled lamb, ratatouille, or eggplant moussaka. It also complements charcuterie boards and aged cheeses like Manchego or Parmesan. While approachable upon release, the Yalumba Vine Vale Grenache has the potential to age gracefully for 8–10 years, developing further complexity and integration.
