A blend of 61/13/12/8/6% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/cabernet franc/malbec/petit verdot from vines planted at this historic site from 1969–2000. A bright crimson purple. A wonderfully complex and perfumed bouquet redolent of blackcurrants and wild blackberry together with new pencil box shavings, sweet spice and crushed violets. Medium bodied, in the best sense of the term, with the fruit, oak and seamless tannins coming together as one. It may not be the most long-lived Yeringberg ever, but it will provide an enormous amount of enjoyment over the next 10–15 years.

Set among the rolling hills of the Yarra Valley, Yeringberg is one of the region’s most historic and respected estates. The vineyard was first planted in 1863 by Swiss immigrant Baron Frederic Guillaume de Pury, making it one of the earliest wine properties in the valley. After a long period when the vineyard lay dormant, it was revived in the 1960s by Guill de Pury and his wife Katherine, who carefully replanted the estate. Today the property remains firmly in family hands with winemaker Sandra de Pury continuing the tradition of producing elegant wines that reflect the character of the site. The Yeringberg Bordeaux Blend brings together Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot grown on the estate’s gravelly clay soils, a combination that has proven perfectly suited to these classic varieties.

The wine shows a deep ruby colour with excellent clarity. Aromas lift from the glass with blackcurrant, dark plum and red cherry layered with cedar, tobacco leaf and subtle violet notes. As the wine opens further hints of graphite, dried herbs and warm spice appear, adding depth and complexity. The palate is beautifully structured with fine tannins supporting flavours of cassis, blackberry and savoury herbs across a refined frame. Bright acidity from the cool Yarra Valley climate brings freshness and balance while gentle oak maturation adds texture and polish. The finish is long and elegant with lingering dark fruit and spice.

This is a wine built for the cellar and will continue to develop gracefully for fifteen to twenty years. It works beautifully alongside roast lamb, grilled rib eye, braised beef or slow cooked Mediterranean dishes.
