2024 00 Wines VGW Chardonnay, Willamette Valley

Oregon Chardonnay has become a serious contender on the world stage, and 00 Wines is among its most exciting producers. Founded by Chris and Kathryn Hermann, the estate takes inspiration from the great white wines of Burgundy, with a distinctive approach to pressing and fermentation. VGW, short for Very Good White, draws on selected Willamette Valley vineyards, where cool conditions and volcanic and sedimentary soils encourage freshness, texture and beautifully defined fruit.

Pale gold with delicate green reflections. White peach, Meyer lemon and crisp pear mingle with acacia blossom, toasted almond and a hint of flinty smoke. The 2024 vintage combines succulent fruit with lively acidity, subtle oak richness and a long, chalky finish. Beautifully composed, with impressive depth beneath its elegant character.

Wonderful with grilled King George whiting and preserved lemon, crab and fennel tortellini, or roasted Jerusalem artichokes with hazelnut and thyme.
