2024 Argyros Atlantis White, Santorini

Argyros Atlantis White is the gateway to Santorini’s sun-bleached, sea-kissed magic. Crafted by the legendary Domaine Argyros, this wine captures the essence of the island in a fresh, accessible, and supremely drinkable style. While Assyrtiko is the dominant force here, Atlantis White is a carefully composed blend with smaller portions of Aidani and Athiri—two native white grapes that soften and perfume the structure and salinity of Assyrtiko without compromising its signature volcanic precision.

Grown on the island’s iconic black pumice and lava soils, the grapes come from younger vines than those used in Argyros’ more concentrated cuvées, but they still benefit from the same extreme climate. Fierce Aegean winds, blazing sunshine, and almost no rainfall create wines of intensity, freshness, and texture. The vines are trained in the traditional kouloura method to shield the fruit and retain vital moisture, with harvesting done entirely by hand.

Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts to preserve purity and lift. The wine is left on fine lees for a short period to add a subtle roundness and gentle weight. In the glass, Atlantis White is bursting with citrus zest, green apple, pear and lemon blossom, followed by hints of sea salt, wet stone, and dried herbs.
