Aromas of green pear, grapefruit, bath salts and nettle. Pretty and lifted. The palate has lashings of just-ripe nectarine, pithy lemon, talc and guava action happening. The acidity is punchy and delivers a fair whack of zing and zap 01 Nov 2024 Drink 2024–2034

Pale straw with a flash of green and aromas of freshly squeezed lime, crunchy green apple and grapefruit. Hints of orange blossom, crushed riverstone, sea spray, almond paste and lime cordial. Flavoursome and tightly focused, finishing dry and long with just a squeak of pithy texture and a nice savoury palate shape.

The Bream Creek Vineyard Riesling from Tasmania is a beautifully crafted wine that exemplifies the purity and precision of cool-climate winemaking. Bream Creek, one of Tasmania's oldest vineyards, is renowned for producing high-quality wines with a focus on expressing the unique terroir of the island. Fred Peacock, a highly respected viticulturist and winemaker, leads the estate, bringing decades of experience and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Pale straw yellow with a subtle green hue, reflecting its freshness and youth. On the nose, it delivers an aromatic bouquet of lime, lemon blossom, and green apple, with underlying notes of wet stone and jasmine. These aromas hint at the vibrancy and complexity that await on the palate.

Flavors of freshly squeezed lime, crisp green apple, and white peach dominate, while a touch of honeysuckle and mineral salinity adds depth. The wine’s acidity is bright and refreshing, perfectly balancing the fruit sweetness to create a harmonious and clean profile. The finish is long and crisp, leaving a lingering impression of citrus and a hint of slate.

This Riesling is a perfect match for seafood such as freshly shucked oysters, grilled prawns, or pan-seared scallops. It also complements spicy Asian dishes or goat cheese salads. While enjoyable now for its vibrant freshness, the Bream Creek Riesling has the structure and acidity to evolve gracefully over 10-15 years, developing complex tertiary notes of honey and toast.
