Coal River Valley pinot noir, 20% whole bunch. Dark ruby with aromas of dark cherry and plum fruits, hints of exotic spice, raspberry coulis, amaro, citrus blossom and dried rinds, some subtle undergrowth and earthen notes and a suggestion of watermelon way back in the shadows. It cuts a graceful line, this one, with some appealing nutty oak in the background that matches the fruit weight nicely and a cherry-skin acidity that shows plenty of drive and focus. It's just a lovely wine.

From the cool, sheltered vineyards of the Coal River Valley comes a Pinot Noir born from a unique Tasmanian collaboration. Bubb + Pooley brings together two respected names in Tasmanian wine, combining the Bubb family’s vineyard resources with the experience and pedigree of Pooley Wines, one of the island’s most awarded estates. The Coal River Valley, just east of Hobart, is known for its dry climate, long sunshine hours and free draining sandy loam over dolerite soils, producing Pinot Noir of perfume, structure and fine acidity. The result is a wine that reflects both careful site selection and modern Tasmanian precision.

Bright ruby with vibrant crimson hues, the aromatics are lifted and expressive. Wild strawberry, red cherry and cranberry sit alongside rose petal, subtle spice and a gentle earthy undertone. There is a clear mineral thread that speaks of the valley’s ancient soils and cool maritime influence.

On the palate it is medium bodied, silky and beautifully balanced. Red berry fruit flows across fine grained tannins and bright natural acidity, delivering both freshness and length. Nuances of clove, dried herbs and discreet oak add texture without overshadowing purity. The finish is long and savoury, lingering with cherry skin and delicate forest floor notes. It captures the elegance and finesse that define Coal River Valley Pinot Noir.

Pair with roast duck, grilled salmon, pork belly with cherry glaze or mushroom and thyme dishes. Delicious in its youth for vibrancy and perfume, it will cellar confidently for eight to twelve years, developing deeper savoury complexity and integration.
