A juicy, bright riesling with lots of ozone, tart, green lime, green apple, some Japanese gingery spice, indeed that latter character quite distinct in the wine. It feels refreshing and energetic, quite straight up and down, but the general gist delivers a strong regional representation of the variety.

Castle Rock Skywalk Riesling from Porongurup in Western Australia is a crisp, finely etched white that captures the purity and drive of one of the country’s most distinctive cool-climate regions. Grown on elevated granite slopes beneath the striking Skywalk lookout in the Great Southern, this wine showcases the tight acid line, citrus focus and mineral backbone that make Porongurup Riesling so exciting.
The fruit is hand picked from estate-grown vines planted on rocky, well-drained soils. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at cool temperatures to preserve aromatic lift and clarity. There's no oak and no malolactic fermentation, allowing the natural acidity and precision of the site to take centre stage.
The nose offers lime zest, green apple, jasmine and a hint of wet slate. The palate is bone dry and linear, with flavours of lemon juice, crunchy citrus, and flinty minerality carried on a taut frame of acidity. It finishes long, focused and mouthwatering, with a saline edge that reflects its rocky origins.
Food pairing: perfect with oysters, Thai green curry, grilled whiting, sashimi or a Vietnamese herb salad. Also excellent with fresh goat cheese or lightly spiced vegetarian dishes.
Cellar potential: approachable now for its zesty vibrancy, but will reward cellaring over 8 to 12 years, gaining honeyed, toasty and mineral complexity.
