Light yellow hue; fresh and pungent lime/lemon and crushed herb aromas, superbly intense and varietal. The palate is seriously intense and focused, penetrating and long, with spicy riesling florals showing a range of aromas and flavours, the finish drawn out and long-lasting. Superb wine, and well worth cellaring. Drink 2026 to 2037.

Tart and tangy, revitalising and uplifting. A laser-like textural experience. Lots of green lime, green apple, pink grapefruit juice and talc. It ticks a lot of boxes for varietal and regional character. Very pristine and precise, a good deal of inward concentration in its lithe frame. Top flight, is the message. Drink 2026 to 2032.

Friends in the West are already getting excited about the quality of the 2025 vintage. Early days of course, but the initial indications are very promising. This is a cracking Riesling from the Great Southern region and is excellent value. A very pale lemon hue, there are lovely citrus notes here, with florals, grapefruit and lemon. Fresh and clean, there is excellent length. Notes of jasmine and wet stones emerge towards the finish. A well-balanced wine with good acidity, this has at least fifteen years of pleasure ahead of it. Drink 2026 to 2041.

Winemaker James Kellie’s years as a contract winemaker for growers across the Great Southern region gave him unique insights into its diversity and potential. His love for the region led him to purchase a former client, Harewood Estate, in 2003 with his wife Careena. This commitment came with building a winery from scratch and a clear ambition: to make wines that reflect the full breadth of the Great Southern rather than a single corner of it.
The Porongurup ranges rise sharply from the surrounding farmland in a series of ancient granite outcrops, and this elevated vineyard — one of the original Riesling plantings in the subregion — produces fruit of remarkable intensity and precision. Free-run juice only, a long cool ferment in stainless, minimal fining and screw cap: every decision in the winery points toward preserving what the site already gives.
Pale straw with green tinges. Floral and citrus on the nose: grapefruit, green apple, jasmine and a flinty, slate-like undercurrent. The palate is focused and precise, with mouth-watering lemon and lime carrying through a long, clean finish.
Give this at least three years before opening. Around five to seven years from vintage it begins to show its full hand with more complex fruit, greater texture, the acidity now fully integrated. A bottle held to ten years or beyond will reward the patient with something altogether different again.
Great with a plate of seasonal sashimi or a whole steamed fish with ginger and shallots.
Drink to 2035.
