Classically styled Old Vine Riesling from a single vineyard in Flaxman Valley
Wattle Brae is a dry Old Vine Riesling from a single vineyard in Flaxman Valley with vines planted from 1969 to 1980. The handpicked grapes are vinified in classical Eden Valley manner in stainless steel, the wine released early but with long life ahead of it.
As tends to be the case, this comes with refreshingly modest alcohol (11.0% alc./vol. in 2026) and with a low 4.3g/L residual sugar that balances its high acidity perfectly and suits Flaxman Valley Rieslings well.
About this producer
The Lindner family has been immersed in the Barossa’s farming community for six generations and are the custodians of what is believed to be the world’s oldest surviving Shiraz vineyard planted in 1843. Their commitment to quality is unwavering with the Langmeil name representing their family’s ongoing pursuit of excellence all aspects of viticulture and winemaking since 1996.
Like many in the region, the family is of Prussian heritage and settled in the village of Langmeil along the North Para River in 1838. The anti-German sentiment of the late-1910s saw many place names with German origins changed, with Langmeil becoming Bilyara. The locality is now part of the present-day Tanunda.
