Founded in 1933, Cave de Tain is one of the Northern Rhône's most important cooperative wineries, bringing together growers from celebrated appellations including Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph. Their Première Note collection is all about approachable, varietal wines that capture the character of the Rhône without the hefty price tag.
Marsanne is one of the Northern Rhône's signature white grapes, prized for its generous texture, gentle acidity and delicate floral character. Sourced from vineyards within the Collines Rhodaniennes IGP, the 2024 Première Note is a fresh, youthful interpretation, with an emphasis on bright fruit and easy drinking charm.
Pale straw yellow with soft golden reflections. Ripe pear, yellow apple and white peach mingle with acacia blossom, lemon peel and a hint of almond. The palate is rounded and supple, with juicy orchard fruit, subtle honeyed notes and a gentle citrus freshness. A touch of savoury nuttiness adds interest to the clean, softly textured finish.
A lovely match for grilled calamari with lemon and parsley, leek and feta tart, or pan fried whiting with capers. It would also be delicious with a simple bowl of mussels steamed in white wine, garlic and fresh herbs.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2028. Best appreciated for its youthful fruit and gentle floral freshness.
