A definite step up from non-vintage and, while it shares the same high level of joyful prosecco exuberance, there is added depth of flavour and a rousing savouriness that shows the serious side to the grape. Scents flow from floral through to citrus with green apple and honeydew melon. A lasting note of preserved lemon savouriness brings an intensity of flavour to the palate that resonates. Hard to say no to a second glass.

Dal Zotto VP Pucino Prosecco from the King Valley is a lively, generous and unmistakably Italian styled sparkling wine that reflects the Dal Zotto family’s deep roots in Veneto and their pioneering role in Australian Prosecco. The VP Pucino cuvée takes its name from the family heritage and the original vineyard plantings that helped define the King Valley as Australia’s home of Italian varieties. Glera is grown at altitude in the Alpine foothills, where cold nights and long, mild days preserve freshness, lift and vibrant acidity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel using the Charmat method, capturing pure fruit expression and a fine, playful mousse that makes this Prosecco so easy to love.

The aromatics are bright and inviting. Crisp green apple and nashi pear lead the way, followed by white peach, melon and a gentle citrus blossom note. There’s a fresh alpine feel to the nose, with subtle herbal tones and a faint almond nuance adding depth without weighing things down.

On the palate it is lively, clean and beautifully refreshing. A fine bead carries flavours of crunchy apple, pear and lemon zest across a dry, well balanced frame. The acidity is crisp and mouthwatering, keeping the wine light on its feet, while a soft mineral edge brings polish to the finish. It is uncomplicated in the best sense, delivering pure refreshment with just enough character to keep each glass interesting.

Perfect as an aperitif or with antipasti, prosciutto and melon, fried calamari, seafood pasta, brunch dishes or casual celebrations. Serve well chilled and don’t overthink it, this is Prosecco made for pouring generously and enjoying often.
