From Milly, Beines and Fontenay. Pale colour, some tension on the nose. This builds very nicely and has retained a fresh stony quality which I appreciate. Medium bodied, fair length, well made. Bottled in May. Drink from 2026-2028. Tasted Jun 2025.

88 points Jasper Morris MW inside Burgundy

Daniel Dampt et Fils is a classic family domaine based in Milly, right in the heart of Chablis, with the next generation now fully involved in continuing the estate’s steady, quality focused approach. Working predominantly with estate grown fruit across Kimmeridgian soils, the style is all about clarity, freshness and that unmistakable mineral stamp that defines the region.

The wine opens with a clean, precise aromatic profile, lemon zest and green apple leading, followed by a hint of white peach. There is a distinctive mineral note running through it, oyster shell and wet stone, giving an immediate sense of place. Everything feels bright and well defined.

On the palate it is crisp and finely tuned, with lively acidity driving the wine forward. Citrus and orchard fruit flavours stay focused, finishing dry with a saline edge and a touch of flint that lingers. It is refreshing and detailed without being sharp, a well balanced expression of Chablis.

Winemaking is handled with a light touch, stainless steel preserving the purity of fruit and the natural tension of the wine, allowing the vineyard character to remain front and centre.

This is a natural partner for seafood. Fresh oysters, grilled prawns, or a simple piece of fish with lemon all work beautifully. It also pairs well with goat’s cheese or lighter dishes where the acidity can lift the flavours.

Drinking beautifully in its youth, it will also hold for a few years, gaining a little more roundness while retaining that crisp mineral core.
