The fruit starts in a softer strawberry mode, but retains adequate tension at the back and good length. Slightly less energy than the Maranges but perhaps more persistent. Drink from 2027-2030. Domaine Lucien Muzard is one of Santenay's most respected family estates, with brothers Claude and Hervé Muzard continuing a tradition of crafting authentic, terroir-driven Burgundy from some of the appellation's finest vineyards. Their Vieilles Vignes is sourced from mature vines that naturally produce lower yields, resulting in a wine of greater concentration, depth and complexity while retaining the elegance that defines classic Santenay.

The 2024 vintage delivered beautifully balanced fruit, with ideal growing conditions preserving freshness while allowing exceptional flavour development. Careful vineyard management and restrained oak maturation ensure the old-vine character shines through, producing a wine of purity, structure and remarkable finesse.

Bright ruby with crimson highlights, the bouquet reveals aromas of wild cherry, raspberry and redcurrant layered with rose petals, warm spice and subtle forest floor notes. As the wine opens, hints of fine cedar, crushed stone and earthy complexity emerge, adding depth and intrigue. The palate is silky and beautifully structured, balancing vibrant red berry fruit with fine tannins, lively acidity and a graceful mineral thread. Long, refined and effortlessly balanced, the finish lingers with savoury spice and impressive persistence.

A superb partner for roast duck, grilled quail, mushroom risotto, herb roasted chicken or mature washed rind cheeses. Delicious in its youth, this expressive old-vine Santenay will continue to reward careful cellaring over the next decade.
