Few vineyards in the wine world carry the prestige of Bernkasteler Doctor. According to local legend, the vineyard earned its name when a prince was cured of illness after drinking its wine, and for centuries it has been regarded as one of Germany's greatest Riesling sites. Dr. H. The steep slate slopes of Bernkasteler Doctor are among the most challenging and rewarding vineyard sites in Germany. Poor Devonian slate soils, exceptional sun exposure and the cooling influence of the Mosel River create ideal conditions for Riesling.
