Dune Blewitt Springs Shiraz from McLaren Vale is a stunning, perfume-driven and sand-etched expression of Shiraz that captures everything special about this elevated corner of the Vale. The vineyard sits in Blewitt Springs’ famous deep sands, a landscape of pale, powdery soils and cooling afternoon breezes that create Shiraz of lifted aromatics, fine tannins and remarkable purity. The Lawrence brothers work these vineyards with a light touch, always favouring wild ferments, gentle extraction and old oak to keep the wine bright, savoury and wonderfully expressive of the site. In 2025 the wine swept two major honours: Trophy for Best Shiraz at the McLaren Vale Wine Show and Trophy for Best Shiraz One Year Old or Younger, cementing its status as one of the region’s most exciting and finely judged modern Shiraz releases.

The bouquet is beautifully fragrant, offering violet, blackberry and mulberry layered with blueberry, cracked pepper, lavender, red earth and a touch of graphite. With air, subtler tones emerge: dried herbs, cocoa nib, sandalwood and a faint mineral hum that is pure Blewitt Springs. There is an effortless lift here, the perfume shaped as much by the cool, sandy soils as by winemaking restraint.

The palate is elegant, bright and quietly powerful. Dark berry fruits glide across finely threaded, talc textured tannins, supported by lively acidity that keeps the wine focused and energetic. Flavours of blackberry, plum skin, black cherry, spice and savoury earth build in gentle waves, balanced by a subtle mineral line that runs from start to finish. The texture is supple, the structure harmonious, the finish long and refined with lingering dark fruit, florals and spice. It is thrilling now but will evolve beautifully over the next eight to ten years.

At the table it shines beside lamb cutlets with rosemary, charred vegetable dishes, grilled mushrooms, spiced sausages, roast duck, smoky eggplant, hard cheeses or anything cooked over flame.
