Faiveley’s 2024 Bâtard is a wine of impressive concentration and excellent ripeness, pushed by the low yields of the 2024 vintage. The initial impression is one of ripe Mirabelle plums and nectarines with notes of white flowers, chalk, and spice. The texture is dense, buttery, and creamy, yet balanced by enough acidity to ensure that the wine is never heavy. A delicious wine. This wine is indisputably the richest white in the portfolio, well-suited to extended ageing.

The 2024 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has more intensity and mineralité on the nose compared to the Bienvenues, bright and lively. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite saline in the mouth with a touch of stem ginger towards the finish. Good length.

Mid lemon yellow. A tougher stricter nose, less flamboyant but arguably more classical. Chiselled intensity on the palate, linear in the best sense and very long. The pure white fruit keeps coming back. Drink from 2030-2036. Tasted Nov 2025

Few white Burgundies command the reverence of Bâtard Montrachet, a legendary Grand Cru straddling Puligny Montrachet and Chassagne Montrachet. Its limestone and clay soils produce Chardonnay of remarkable power, richness and ageing potential. Founded in 1825, Domaine Faiveley remains family owned, with Erwan and Eve Faiveley guiding the estate and Jérôme Flous overseeing winemaking.
Brilliant pale gold with luminous straw reflections. Ripe white peach, golden pear and preserved lemon mingle with acacia blossom, roasted hazelnut and delicate spice. The cooler 2024 vintage adds wonderful freshness to the wine's concentrated, silky texture, with vibrant citrus acidity and a persistent mineral finish. Powerful yet beautifully refined, with the depth and complexity expected of this extraordinary vineyard.
Magnificent with roasted marron and saffron, delicate lobster ravioli with tarragon, or a golden wild mushroom and leek pithivier. A truly exceptional Chardonnay for a memorable occasion.
Cellaring: 2029 to 2045+. A magnificent Grand Cru with exceptional ageing potential and the structure to develop extraordinary complexity.
