According to Jérôme Flous, the 2024 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet is 'maybe better than 2014'. High praise indeed. The wine is exquisite, with pronounced aromas of mandarin and nectarine, hints of butter and spice and notes of white flowers. The grapes are from the domaine-owned half-hectare parcel running the length of the vineyard below Bâtard. The wine is finishing its maturation in barrel (50% new). The final impression is lighter and fresher than the Bâtard, with less power but more finesse. This is a truly superb and eminently ageworthy wine.

Fine lemon yellow with a lime touch. A fractional beneficial reduction. There is a lot going on under the surface. A little bit of candied citrus as well as waves of orchard fruit. This comes together very nicely in a clean lengthy finish. Drink from 2029-2036. Tasted Nov 2025
93-95 points Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
Among Burgundy's most coveted white Grand Crus, Bienvenues Bâtard Montrachet is celebrated for Chardonnay of extraordinary finesse, richness and aromatic complexity. Tucked beside Bâtard Montrachet in Puligny Montrachet, its limestone and clay soils produce wines of remarkable elegance. Founded in 1825, Domaine Faiveley remains family owned, with Erwan and Eve Faiveley leading the estate and Jérôme Flous overseeing winemaking.
Luminous pale gold with delicate green reflections. White peach, ripe pear and preserved lemon mingle with acacia blossom, toasted hazelnut and subtle spice. The cooler 2024 vintage lends beautiful freshness to the wine's silky, concentrated texture, with vibrant citrus acidity and a lingering chalky, savoury finish. Refined, powerful and wonderfully composed, with the depth expected of a great white Burgundy.
An extraordinary match for roasted marron with tarragon, delicate crab ravioli with saffron, or wild mushroom and chestnut pithivier. A wine deserving of a truly memorable dinner.
Cellaring: 2029 to 2045+. An exceptional Grand Cru with the structure and concentration to develop extraordinary complexity over the coming decades.
