Medium ruby colour and crushed, spicy fruit announce a Nuits that is on the lighter side. The tannins are firm and somewhat astringent. Winemaker Jérôme Flous remarked that this was one of the sites hardest hit by the weather: Faiveley has 1.3 hectares in production and managed only a couple of barrels. This should drink soon after bottling and will be suited to mid-term ageing at most.

There is a wonderful sense of character about the great Premier Crus of Nuits Saint Georges, and Les Porêts Saint Georges is no exception. Situated just below the celebrated Les Saint Georges vineyard, it produces Pinot Noir with impressive depth, earthy complexity and the unmistakable structure of the southern Côte de Nuits. Domaine Faiveley has been part of Burgundy's winemaking history since 1825, with seventh generation siblings Erwan and Eve Faiveley continuing the family tradition. Winemaker Jérôme Flous oversees the estate's extensive collection of exceptional vineyards.
The limestone and clay soils of Les Porêts Saint Georges encourage concentrated fruit and firm, beautifully defined tannins. Compared with the more delicate vineyards towards Vosne Romanée, this southern section of Nuits Saint Georges tends to produce wines with greater muscularity and savoury depth. The challenging 2024 vintage demanded careful vineyard management and rigorous selection, with the best results showing vibrant fruit and lovely freshness.
Deep ruby red with vivid crimson highlights. Black cherry, wild raspberry and ripe plum mingle with violet, liquorice, crushed pepper and a suggestion of forest floor. The palate is generous yet beautifully structured, with concentrated dark fruit, fine but persistent tannins and refreshing acidity. Notes of black tea, earthy spice and crushed limestone contribute to a long, satisfying finish.
A lovely match for slow roasted lamb shoulder with garlic and rosemary, duck with sour cherries, or handmade porcini and chestnut ravioli. For something more adventurous, try Korean style glazed eggplant with sesame, shiitake mushrooms and crispy shallots.
Cellaring: 2029 to 2042+. A serious Premier Cru that will reward several years in the cellar, developing greater savoury complexity as its tannins soften.
