Faiveley Nuits Saint Georges Les Montroziers blends dark cherry, spice and fine tannins with classic Burgundy depth and elegance.
Two thirds comes from the Vosne side of Nuits-St-Georges, one third further south. Mid crimson red. A juicy strawberry fruit, evident from the nose, is then reproduced on the palate, leading to a fresher finish with adequate acidity. Drink from 2028-2032. Tasted Nov 2025.
90 points Jasper Morris MW Inside Burgundy
Nuits Saint Georges is the beating heart of the Côte de Nuits, renowned for producing Pinot Noir with greater depth, structure and longevity than many of its neighbouring villages. The Les Montroziers vineyard captures this distinctive character, balancing the appellation's trademark power with the finesse and precision that have defined Maison Joseph Faiveley since its founding in 1825. Today, the seventh generation of the Faiveley family continues to craft wines that faithfully express Burgundy's most celebrated terroirs.
The 2024 vintage produced beautifully balanced fruit, with warm days and cool nights preserving freshness while allowing the grapes to reach excellent ripeness. The limestone and clay soils of Les Montroziers contribute both concentration and mineral tension, while careful maturation in French oak enhances the wine's complexity without masking its vineyard character.
Deep ruby red with youthful crimson highlights, the bouquet opens with aromas of black cherry, wild raspberry and red plum layered with violet, baking spice and subtle cedar. As the wine evolves, hints of forest floor, graphite and fine earth emerge, adding depth and savoury complexity. The palate is structured yet beautifully refined, combining concentrated red and dark berry fruits with fine grained tannins and vibrant acidity. A distinct mineral thread carries through the long, poised finish, leaving lingering notes of spice, florals and gentle oak.
Pair with roast duck, slow roasted lamb, wild mushroom pithivier or aged Comté. While already showing impressive balance, this is a wine that will continue to gain complexity and harmony with patient cellaring.
