All domaine, therefore organic. A mid crimson to ruby colour. The slightly darker fruit comes across as crisper than the Nuits, with a much firmer structure in the mouth, though perhaps not quite the same length. Drink from 2028-2032. Tasted Nov 2025.

90 points Jasper Morris MW Inside Burgundy

Old vines have a remarkable ability to capture the essence of place, and in Gevrey Chambertin they produce Pinot Noir of exceptional depth, structure and complexity. One of Burgundy's most revered villages, Gevrey Chambertin is celebrated for wines that combine power with refinement, a style perfectly suited to Maison Joseph Faiveley. Founded in 1825 and still family owned today, the estate has spent seven generations crafting wines that honour the individuality of Burgundy's finest vineyards.

The Vieilles Vignes cuvée is sourced from mature vines rooted in limestone and clay soils, where naturally low yields deliver fruit of outstanding concentration and character. The excellent 2024 vintage brought vibrant freshness and superb balance, allowing the richness of the old vines to shine while preserving the precision that defines great Burgundy. Thoughtful maturation in French oak adds subtle complexity without overwhelming the fruit.

Bright ruby garnet in colour, the bouquet reveals aromas of black cherry, wild raspberry and ripe strawberry intertwined with violet, baking spice and fine cedar. As the wine opens, layers of forest floor, dried herbs and a touch of graphite emerge, adding savoury depth and intrigue. The palate is beautifully structured, with concentrated red and dark berry fruits supported by silky, fine grained tannins and lively acidity. Powerful yet poised, it finishes long and persistent with mineral tension, gentle spice and remarkable purity.

A superb match for roast duck, herb crusted lamb, venison loin, mushroom pithivier or mature Comté. While already captivating, this old vine Gevrey Chambertin has the balance and structure to reward careful cellaring for many years.
