A silky textured, inwardly concentrated release with fresh nashi pear, red apple, light gingery spice elements, halva and brine as the mainstays of descriptors. The potency gives a sense of power but there's control and elegance here, too. A graceful, salivating white of medium to fuller weight with impeccable balance and length. It's a star.

Grosset Piccadilly Chardonnay is a finely etched, cool-climate white from the Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills, crafted with the same precision and purity that define Jeffrey Grosset’s legendary Rieslings. This is a Chardonnay of tension, elegance and restraint, sourced from high-altitude vineyards where long ripening seasons and cold nights shape fruit of exceptional clarity and balance.
Grapes are hand harvested and whole-bunch pressed, with fermentation taking place in a mix of new and seasoned French oak barriques using natural yeasts. The wine spends time on lees with bâtonnage to build texture and complexity, but the hallmark here is restraint — oak is used as a frame, not the focus.
The nose is beautifully lifted, showing white nectarine, lemon peel, flint, struck match and a touch of almond. The palate is tightly coiled and refined, with citrus and stone fruit at the core, subtle mealy notes, fine acidity and a long, chalky finish. There’s a quiet power and precision to the wine, suggesting great longevity and evolution.
Food pairing: perfect with grilled marron, roast chicken with tarragon, creamy seafood risotto, or soft cheeses like Délice de Bourgogne. Also excellent with miso-glazed eggplant or lobster with herb butter.
Cellar potential: outstanding. Drinking well now with a decant, but will develop beautifully over 8 to 12 years, gaining complexity, savoury depth and gentle richness.
