There is a long tradition in Alsace of crafting wines with food firmly in mind, and this cuvée leans right into that idea. Gustave Lorentz, family run since 1836 in the village of Bergheim, has always had a strong connection to both vineyard and table. With holdings across a patchwork of limestone, clay and sandstone soils, the estate focuses on purity and drinkability, and this wine was quite literally created to be a friend of seafood.
Built around Pinot Blanc with a touch of Auxerrois, it captures a fresher, more delicate side of Alsace. The 2024 vintage shows bright orchard fruit straight away, crisp apple, pear and a squeeze of lemon, with a subtle floral lift and a gentle almond note in the background. There is a clean, lightly rounded texture through the palate, but the acidity keeps it lively and refreshing, finishing with a soft mineral edge that makes you want another sip.
It is exactly the kind of bottle you reach for when the menu leans toward the ocean. Freshly shucked oysters, grilled prawns with garlic and parsley, or a classic plate of mussels in white wine and herbs all feel like natural fits. It also works beautifully with lighter dishes like tempura vegetables or a simple crab salad with citrus and dill, where the wine’s freshness keeps everything bright and balanced.
Best enjoyed young while that crisp fruit is at its peak, though it will hold nicely over the next few years for easy, relaxed drinking.
A fresh and vibrant Alsace Pinot Blanc, bursting with apple, pear and citrus, perfect for seafood and easy drinking occasions.
