Aromas of lemon pith, fennel, pears and wet stones. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple texture and bright acidity, giving flavors of limes, orange blossoms and a touch of almonds. Nicely weighted and balanced, with a mineral finish. Drink or hold.

The 2025 Apiana Fiano leads with a quasi-tropical nose, reminiscent in some ways of Sauvignon Blanc in its slightly sweaty, passion fruit-laden aromas. In the mouth, the wine is crunchy and lean in its acid profile and fleshy and soft in the fruit. The flavors linger on the lemon end of the spectrum rather than moving to pear and flowers. It's an altogether leaner and more intense wine than in years past, with none of the subtle nutty influences, nor the flowers. Drink 2025 to 2030.

Light bright yellow colour; lifted herbal aromas suggesting sauvignon blanc, the palate light and fresh with good focus and intensity, fresh herbs and a suggestion of honey, fairly straightforward on the day and will certainly build some complexity with time. The finish is refreshingly clean, dry and balanced. Nice now and has potential. Drink 2025 to 2035.

Jeffrey Grosset established his winery in Auburn in 1981 with a single guiding conviction: that exceptional wine begins with finding precisely the right place. Grosset remains one of Australia's most focused and uncompromising small producers with four Clare Valley vineyards certified organic and biodynamic. These are farmed with a philosophy that has deepened considerably since Jeffrey first engaged with biodynamics as a way of understanding his land rather than simply managing it.

Fiano is one of Italy's ancient white varieties, known to the Romans as Apiana for its ability to attract bees. Grosset has chosen Campanian clones for the poor, rocky soils of Rockwood Vineyard in the high-altitude Watervale subregion. Here the heat loving variety is pushed to its limits, with naturally low yields but fruit of remarkable concentration. Grown biodynamically, hand harvested and bottled unfined.

The 2025 vintage produced a Grosset Fiano in a leaner, more citrus-driven register than recent years: brighter and more intense, with the beeswax and floral richness of warmer vintages giving way to something sharper and more mineral. Lemon pith, fennel, pear and wet stone on the nose, with a slightly herbal lift. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy acidity, supple texture and flavours running toward lime and orange blossom rather than honey and flowers. The finish is clean, dry and focused, with good length.

Japanese sashimi with ponzu and daikon would be a nice match. The saline texture and citrus freshness are a natural foil for anything clean, mineral or gently briny.

Drink now through 2029. This wine is vegan friendly.
