Purity and freshness with sliced strawberries, minerals and hints of flint. Some volcanic undertones. There’s an edge this year that gives it energy. Drink or hold.
94 points James Suckling
Wild, windswept vineyards overlooking the Pacific give this Pinot Noir its unmistakable coastal personality. Founded by David Hirsch in 1980, Hirsch Vineyards has become one of California's most respected Pinot Noir estates. Bohan Dillon is named in honour of the pioneering Bohan family and David Hirsch's daughter, Jasmine Dillon Hirsch, who now leads the estate. Drawing on the rugged Sonoma Coast, the wine celebrates freshness, character and a wonderfully approachable style.
Bright ruby red with lively crimson reflections. Wild strawberry, red cherry and raspberry mingle with rose petals, orange peel and a hint of earthy spice. The 2024 vintage is beautifully fragrant, with supple tannins, juicy acidity and a delicate savoury edge. There's plenty of charm here, but also the restraint and freshness that make coastal Californian Pinot Noir so appealing.
Delicious with crispy skinned ocean trout and beetroot, Japanese chicken yakitori with sesame, or roasted pumpkin with sage and toasted pepitas.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2032. Particularly appealing for its youthful perfume and vibrant red fruit.
