Bright, light yellow colour with an appealing bouquet of honey, lemon/citrus and fruit is in the driving seat, oak is discreet but there is appealing artifact too, giving a little crème brûlée, among other things. There are intriguing mineral overtones and the palate opens up with rich flavour and a slight impression of fruit sweetness, gentle and rounded, ample and accessible as well as refined in texture. A delicious wine that drinks really well young. 01 May 2024 Drink 2024–2035

Oh, I do like this excellent chardonnay which embraces three clones from two vineyards. Everthing pretty much happened naturally with gentle pressing to 30% new and the remainder one to four-year-old oak. Fragrant florals with a mix of vanilla bean and spices complement the peachy melon character. It's a gentle wine that builds relentlessly through the palate to a sustained finish. The mouthfeel is exquisite with fine acid and fine-grained oak sitting perfectly. A super wine.

Holm Oak Chardonnay from Tasmania's Tamar Valley is a beautifully balanced cool-climate Chardonnay that reflects the region's pristine terroir. Crafted by winemaker Rebecca Duffy and viticulturist Tim Duffy, this Chardonnay showcases Holm Oak's dedication to site expression and minimal intervention. The result is a wine that's vibrant, elegant, and packed with character.
In the glass, it shines with pale gold hues. The nose bursts with aromas of white peach, lemon zest, and nectarine, layered with hints of cashew, flint, and a touch of brioche from subtle oak maturation. On the palate, it's crisp yet creamy, delivering flavors of citrus and stone fruit balanced by a fine mineral line and bright acidity. There's a lovely texture here—silky without being heavy—and the finish is long and refreshing, with lingering notes of grapefruit pith and roasted almond.
This Chardonnay pairs perfectly with grilled seafood, roast chicken, or creamy pasta dishes. It also shines alongside soft cheeses and light, herby salads. While drinking beautifully now, it has the structure to age gracefully for 5–8 years, developing richer, nuttier complexities while retaining its vibrant core.
Holm Oak Chardonnay is a brilliant example of Tamar Valley’s cool-climate charm—fresh, textural, and utterly delicious.
