The colour is a light crimson pink, but don’t let that fool you. This is a Pinot of great poise and structure with deep and layered intensity. The aromas are all about dark cherry with a little spicy raspberry lift. The palate is soft and sublimely supple and gradually opens to reveal a complex maze of strawberry, truffle and spice. And on top of that, you won’t find many better Pinots for this price. A cracker.

Cherry red and bright in the glass. There’s real lift and prettiness in the aromas, cherry, dried herbs, sap, spice, forest floor and mulchy leaves. Elegant on the palate, with lashings of red fruits, bramble, Asian spice, crunchy acidity and silken, granular tannins. The length is impressive, as is the texture and mouth-feel. A delicious, youthful pinot noir 29 Mar 2025 Drink 2025–2035

Holm Oak Pinot Noir from Tasmania is a vibrant, cool-climate expression that beautifully captures the wild charm of the island’s Tamar Valley. Crafted by winemaker Rebecca Duffy and viticulturist Tim Duffy, this Pinot reflects Holm Oak’s philosophy of minimal intervention and careful vineyard management. The result? A wine that sings with purity, freshness, and Tasmanian terroir.
In the glass, it’s a bright ruby red with a youthful clarity. The nose is classic Tassie Pinot—wild strawberries, red cherry, and raspberry, lifted by floral notes of rose petal and a hint of crushed herbs. Beneath the fruit, there’s an earthy, forest-floor character, along with a touch of spice from gentle oak aging. On the palate, it’s silky and elegant, offering a juicy core of red berries, blood orange, and cranberry, balanced by fine tannins and crisp acidity. A subtle minerality runs through the wine, leading to a long, refreshing finish with hints of spice and dried thyme.
This Pinot is made for food. It pairs beautifully with roast duck, grilled salmon, or a simple mushroom risotto. It also complements soft cheeses, charcuterie, and even a herby roast chicken. While drinking beautifully now, it has the structure to age gracefully for another 5–7 years, gaining further complexity while maintaining its vibrant fruit.
Holm Oak Pinot Noir is a true testament to Tasmania’s Pinot prowess—elegant, expressive, and utterly drinkable.
