2024 Home Hill Landslide Pinot Noir, Huon Valley

From the cool southern reaches of Tasmania’s Huon Valley, this Pinot Noir reflects the dramatic landscape that gives the wine its name, steep slopes, fragile soils and a climate built for slow ripening. Home Hill has long been a benchmark for Tasmanian Pinot, focusing on precision viticulture and careful selection to highlight site character. The Landslide bottling comes from parcels that deliver extra depth and structure, shaped by cold nights, long daylight hours and mineral rich soils that favour perfume and fine tannin over sheer weight.

The winemaking aims to preserve delicacy while building quiet power. Gentle extraction and thoughtful oak allow fruit purity and savoury complexity to sit side by side. The result is a Pinot that feels both vibrant and serious, balancing Tasmanian brightness with layered texture.

In the glass it shows a luminous ruby with garnet tones. Aromas open with sour cherry, wild strawberry and cranberry, followed by rose petal, dried herbs, forest floor and a subtle spice note. There is a cool, earthy freshness that speaks clearly of the Huon’s climate.

The palate is medium bodied and finely structured, with red berry fruit carried by silky tannins and a bright acid spine that gives length and energy. This is a natural partner for duck, roast chicken, pork, mushroom dishes and herb driven cooking. It drinks beautifully now with air, but will cellar confidently for eight to twelve years, developing deeper earthy, gamey and savoury complexity while retaining its freshness.
