Portion fermented in old oak to build texture, 3g/L RS, Tamar Valley with a little from the Coal River Valley. Pale with a flash of green. Green apple, crunchy nashi pear and some estery banana notes with the exuberance of youth. Silky and slinky, with notes of crushed stone, marzipan, meadow flowers, distant herbs and nougat. Dry, stony and textural with a crisp textural finish.

The Josef Chromy Pinot Gris from Northern Tasmania is a vibrant and expressive white wine that showcases the cool-climate excellence of the region. Josef Chromy, a pioneer in the Tasmanian wine industry, established his eponymous winery to create wines that reflect the unique terroir of Northern Tasmania. The estate is known for its meticulous attention to detail in the vineyard and winery, resulting in wines of exceptional quality and character.

Northern Tasmania’s cool climate, influenced by maritime breezes and long sunshine hours, provides the ideal conditions for growing Pinot Gris. The grapes for this wine are hand-picked and gently pressed to preserve their natural aromatics and flavors. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks to retain freshness, with a portion often matured on lees to add complexity and texture.

The Josef Chromy Pinot Gris offers an enticing bouquet of ripe pear, apple, and white peach, layered with subtle floral notes and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is rich yet crisp, with flavors of juicy stone fruits, citrus zest, and a touch of honeyed almond. A balanced acidity ensures freshness, leading to a clean, lingering finish that is both refreshing and satisfying.

This wine pairs beautifully with a range of dishes, from seafood such as scallops and oysters to creamy chicken or pork dishes and lightly spiced Asian cuisine. Its versatility and vibrancy make it an excellent choice for both casual gatherings and refined dining.
