Julian Haart works from a tiny cellar in the Mosel with a reputation far larger than its footprint, crafting wines that echo the elegance of the region’s great historical estates. After training with Egon Müller and working harvests around the world, Haart returned home determined to champion traditional Mosel finesse. His old vine parcels cling to impossibly steep slate slopes, where thin soils and cool river influence produce Riesling of piercing clarity. The estate is run with a hands on, low intervention philosophy, focused on purity and tension.
The Kabinett from old vines is built around delicacy and energy. Fermentation is slow and natural, preserving fine aromatics and balancing sweetness with electric acidity. Alcohol remains low, keeping the wine feather light yet intensely flavoured. The aim is a classic Mosel style that feels weightless but persistent.
Pale silver straw in colour, the aromas lift with lime, green apple and white peach layered with jasmine and wet slate. The palate is light bodied and crystalline, with citrus and orchard fruit wrapped in bright, mouthwatering acidity. A gentle thread of sweetness is perfectly countered by minerality, carrying flavours long through a clean, shimmering finish.
It pairs beautifully with spicy cuisine, seafood and light Asian dishes, and is equally compelling on its own. Drinking beautifully now for its youthful snap, it will cellar for fifteen years or more, developing honeyed and smoky nuance.
This is Mosel Riesling in its classic featherweight form, precise, aromatic and endlessly graceful.
