Russian River Valley has a wonderful talent for Chardonnay with richness and freshness in equal measure. La Crema, founded in 1979 and part of the Jackson family of wineries since 1993, has built its reputation on cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Winemaker Craig McAllister works with vineyards influenced by Pacific fog, where slow ripening develops generous fruit while retaining lively acidity.
Luminous pale gold with soft straw reflections. Ripe peach, baked pear and Meyer lemon mingle with toasted brioche, hazelnut and delicate vanilla spice. The 2024 vintage is beautifully rounded, with succulent stone fruit, creamy texture and refreshing citrus acidity. A gentle savoury note adds interest to the lingering finish.
Delicious with crispy skinned snapper and sweetcorn salsa, prawn and ginger dumplings, or roasted cauliflower with miso and sesame. A lovely Californian Chardonnay for a leisurely dinner.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2032. Already inviting, with the balance to develop further nutty complexity.
