2024 Le Vigne di Eli Etna Bianco Moganazzi, Mt Etna

Le Vigne di Eli is the deeply personal project of Marco de Grazia, founder of Tenuta delle Terre Nere and one of the pioneers who revealed Mount Etna's extraordinary potential to the world. Named in memory of his brother Elio, the estate celebrates the remarkable diversity of Etna's volcanic vineyards through small production wines that capture the mountain's unmistakable character.

The Moganazzi vineyard sits on the eastern slopes of Mount Etna, where Carricante thrives in ancient volcanic soils at high altitude. Cooling Mediterranean breezes and dramatic day to night temperature swings preserve vibrant acidity and aromatic precision, producing a white wine of tension, purity and remarkable mineral complexity.

The colour is a brilliant pale straw with green highlights. Aromas of lemon zest, white peach and green apple are layered with white flowers, fennel and smoky volcanic notes. The palate is beautifully focused, combining citrus and orchard fruits with chalky texture and vibrant acidity. A striking thread of saline minerality carries through the wine, leading to a long, precise finish that speaks clearly of Etna's volcanic origins.

Outstanding with grilled swordfish, raw kingfish, spaghetti alle vongole, chargrilled octopus or creamy burrata with citrus and herbs. Delicious now, while the structure and mineral drive will reward careful cellaring over the next decade.
