Restrained, savoury elegance with flinty floral and citrus
The nose is discrete and minerally, with aromas of lemon peel, pink grapefruit and flint. The palate is medium-bodied with focused acidity, a generous mouthfeel and notes of guavas, candied limes and orange blossoms. High tension with underlying power. Drink or hold.
93 points James Suckling, October 2024
The classically styled Art Series Sauvignon Blanc leans into the citrus end of the variety’s spectrum, with aromas of lemons, limes and fennel fronds and a sprinkling of currant leaves, pistachio and cardamom. The citrus theme continues on the medium-weighted, lightly textured, saline and savoury palate. Underpinned by vibrant, chalky acidity, the wine finishes with a refreshing, pithy grip.
What to cook? Think of dishes that embrace fresh herbs, bright citrus acidity, delicate green bitterness. Try crostini topped with goat’s curd and herbs, fennel based salads, or go festive with a Vietnamese-style steamed whole snapper with lemongrass, makrut and mint.
More about this wine
The hand-picked fruit was partially whole bunch pressed, and fermented mostly in stainless steel, with a small parcel fermented in seasoned French oak puncheons. The parcels rested with extended lees contact to build middle-palate weight, texture and savoury nuances.
