Silky and bright red with gold medals from the 2025 Adelaide Hills and Royal Adelaide wine shows
Gold at the 2025 Adelaide Hills Wine Show 2025
Gold at the 2025 Royal Adelaide Wine Show 2025
Deep ruby-purple, with aromas of campfire and dried herbs, raspberry, red cherry and vanilla, lifted by hints of violet and white pepper. Medium-bodied and fleshy, with a silky red-fruited palate, bright orange-zest acidity, and fine chalky amaro tannins that carry through to a savoury finish. Drink to 2034.
93 points Melissa Moore for the Real Review, January 2026
A soft and yet lively red wine, marrying some of the cut and thrust of barbera's inherent, zesty acidity with more cuddly, softer spice, woody elements and creamy, ripe red-berry fruitiness. A nice match in that regard, delivering an approachable, medium-weight red of interest and decent varietal character. Despite the larger-format oak barrels here, some extra overlay of oaky spice and sinewy texture pulls the wine back a little in its youth. Drink to 2030.
90 points Mike Bennie for Halliday Wine Companion, August 2026
The Saturno family has been at the helm of Longview Vineyard since 2007, building on the estate’s reputation as one of the Adelaide Hills’ most awarded single vineyard producers.
Their Barbera block is on a slope of shallow sandy-clay loam sprinkled with ironstone and quartz. Facing southwest, it was planted in 2010 to Piemonte clones 82 and 424. The fruit is handpicked and traditionally vinified, spending around two weeks on skins. Maturation takes place in a mixture of large Slavonian oak casks and seasoned French and Austrian oak puncheons.
