2024 Mandala Blanc de Blancs, Yarra Valley

From cool, elevated Yarra Valley vineyards, this Blanc de Blancs captures the crisp, citrus driven side of the region that makes it so well suited to sparkling wine. Mandala focuses on precision and finesse, sourcing Chardonnay grown in sites where long, slow ripening preserves acidity and delicate aromatics. The Yarra’s gentle sunlight and cold nights shape fruit with natural tension, ideal for a traditional method wine built on freshness and fine structure.

The winemaking follows a classic sparkling approach, with careful base wine selection and extended time on lees to build texture and complexity. The aim is elegance rather than richness, allowing the vineyard’s cool climate character to remain front and centre.

In the glass it shows pale straw with a persistent, fine bead. Aromas open with lemon zest, green apple and white peach, followed by brioche, almond and a faint chalky note. There is a clean, lifted freshness that signals precision.

The palate is crisp and finely textured, with citrus and orchard fruit wrapped in creamy mousse and bright acidity. Lees ageing adds subtle toast and nutty depth without dulling the wine’s line. The finish is dry, mineral and mouthwatering, leaving impressions of lemon and crushed stone.
