Massolino Moscato d’Asti from Piedmont is a beautifully delicate, lightly sparkling dessert wine that captures all the charm and aromatic purity of this classic northern Italian style. Sourced from vineyards in the hills of Serralunga d’Alba, a commune more famous for Barolo, this Moscato reveals the Massolino family’s finesse and precision even in their sweetest, most playful wine.
Made entirely from Moscato Bianco grapes, the wine is fermented at low temperatures in pressurised tanks to preserve fruit and natural carbonation. Fermentation is stopped early to retain a low alcohol level (typically around 5.5 percent) and a gentle sweetness balanced by refreshing acidity. The result is a light, floral, effervescent wine that’s immensely drinkable and surprisingly refined.
The nose is vibrant and perfumed, with aromas of white peach, orange blossom, lemon verbena, fresh grapes and a hint of sage. The palate is softly fizzy and sweet, but lifted by cleansing acidity and a crisp mineral edge. Flavours of ripe pear, mandarin, honeysuckle and elderflower lead into a delicate, refreshing finish.
Food pairing: ideal with fruit tarts, panna cotta, lemon cake, or hazelnut biscotti. Also excellent with blue cheese, fresh strawberries or served on its own as a festive aperitivo or brunch wine.
Cellar potential: best enjoyed young and fresh within 1 to 2 years to capture its aromatic intensity and gentle sparkle.
