Oakridge Over The Shoulder Chardonnay from the Yarra Valley is a fresh, lively and beautifully balanced example of modern cool climate Chardonnay from one of Victoria’s most respected producers. The approach in the cellar is intentionally light handed. Whole bunch pressing protects clarity and finesse. Fermentation is split between stainless steel and seasoned French oak to maintain freshness while building delicate texture. Lees contact contributes subtle savoury depth and gentle creaminess, yet the wine remains focused and bright. The aim is approachability: generous flavour, lifted aromatics and a refreshing, crisp finish that invites another glass.

Aromatically the wine is vibrant and expressive with notes of lemon peel, white peach and nectarine, followed by hints of jasmine, green apple skin, almond meal and a faint mineral whisper. Air opens up more complexity, unveiling soft florals, grapefruit zest and a gentle pastry nuance.

The flavours are clean, energetic and beautifully defined. Citrus and stone fruit take centre stage, gliding over a lightly creamy texture shaped by lees ageing. Peach skin, lemon curd, pear and subtle spice fold into a bright acid line that runs the length of the wine. Everything feels harmonious and refreshing, with a finish that remains crisp, pure and lightly savoury.

This is a brilliantly food friendly Chardonnay.
