Excellent concentration and power with a mineral led bouquet then scents of white fleshed fruits suggesting grapefruit, apple and white peach, there’s a complex and enticing seam of lees and oak, flowers and citrus peel. Compact, new and complex on the palate, a dry wine with layers of texture form tannins and acidity as well as concentration of fruit flavours and power. A delicious wine that is excellent now and will benefit from cellar time too if you can wait. Lengthy and detailed finish, a wine best enjoyed from late 2026 through 2031+.

Aromas of lemon pith, grapefruit, lime leaves, orange blossoms and struck match. Medium-bodied, the textural palate has bright acidity, the creamy mouthfeel carrying flavors of melon, pastry and peaches. Nicely constructed and refined. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

From the dramatic alpine landscapes of Central Otago, Peregrine Wines has earned a reputation for producing elegant cool climate wines that reflect the purity and intensity of the region. The winery was established in 1998 by the McLachlan family, with vineyards planted across several Central Otago subregions including Gibbston, Bannockburn and Pisa. Peregrine takes its name from the native New Zealand falcon, the kārearea, which often circles above the vineyards. The estate is known for its strong commitment to sustainable viticulture and careful winemaking that allows the character of Central Otago fruit to shine.
The wine shows a pale gold colour with bright clarity. Aromas open with white peach, nectarine and lemon zest layered with subtle grapefruit, toasted hazelnut and gentle oak spice. As the wine evolves in the glass hints of almond, brioche and crushed stone begin to appear. The palate is beautifully balanced with flavours of citrus, stone fruit and a touch of roasted nut supported by vibrant acidity and a fine mineral thread. The cool climate influence of Central Otago gives the wine freshness and precision while careful oak maturation adds texture and depth.
The finish is long and refined with lingering citrus and savoury notes. It works wonderfully with grilled fish, roast chicken, shellfish or creamy seafood dishes.
