From one of Margaret River’s great chardonnay producers, this is yet another brilliant example of the style that has made Pierro so admired. You wouldn’t guess it came from a warm year—it’s delicate and fine, with a pristine brightness. The nose shows light grapefruit, citrus, a touch of butterscotch, and a subtle mealy note in the background. The palate has real zing, with lively, pristine acidity driving through to a sustained finish. A chalky, minerally edge adds to the linear feel and precision. Another outstanding Pierro chardonnay

Light yellow hue with a honeyed, buttery croissant bouquet that shows chardonnay generosity, including malolactic character. The palate is rich and full, rounded and ample, showing the full gamut of Burgundian chardonnay characters. Very smart, but it looks almost old-fashioned beside most mod Oz chardies. 04 Nov 2025 Drink 2025–2036

Pierro Chardonnay from Margaret River is one of Australia’s great white wines, a benchmark of precision and elegance crafted by Dr Mike Peterkin, one of the region’s founding winemakers. This wine represents the pinnacle of Margaret River Chardonnay, where richness, texture, and minerality are brought together in perfect harmony. Each vintage is handled with extraordinary care, using traditional techniques that draw inspiration from Burgundy but express the distinct character of the Wilyabrup subregion.
The fruit is sourced from mature vines growing in gravelly loam soils, perfectly suited to Chardonnay. The maritime climate ensures long, gentle ripening, allowing the grapes to develop intensity and natural acidity. After hand harvesting, the juice is fermented in fine French oak barriques, with regular lees stirring over twelve months to add depth and complexity. The resulting wine has power, but also restraint and purity, hallmarks of Pierro’s style.
In the glass it shows a pale golden hue. The aroma is deep and refined, with layers of white peach, citrus blossom, toasted almond, and subtle flint. The palate is luxurious yet poised, revealing flavours of ripe stone fruit, lemon curd, nougat, and gentle oak spice supported by fine acidity. The finish is long, creamy, and mineral, leaving a sense of quiet power and sophistication.
It pairs beautifully with roasted chicken, lobster, creamy pasta, or dishes featuring truffle or mushrooms. While irresistibly complex on release, it will mature gracefully for fifteen years or more, gaining notes of honey, hazelnut, and brioche.
