Semillon(45%), Sauvignon Blanc (32%), Chardonnay(23%). As far as I know, Pierro is probably the only producer who adds Chardonnay to the classic SSB blend. And it works. This is a great release. It’s juicy but stays tight and balanced.  Lime, green apple, melon, bright acidity, a very subtle herbal/grassy flavour, fine chalky grip, a dollop of vanilla yoghourt, with a limey finish of excellent length. Very nice.

94 points Gary Walsh The Wine Front

A light dry wine, delicious when young but has the capacity and backbone to mature and develop in the bottle. Flavours of citrus, pear, green apple, melon and tropical fruit. Fresh, crisp and dry with both complexity and elegance. An ideal accompaniment to seafood and white meat dishes.

Pierro L.T.C. Sauvignon Blanc Semillon is a benchmark Margaret River white that has quietly earned cult status for its consistency, complexity and unmistakable house style. L.T.C. stands for Leeuwin Teaching College, a nod to the property’s original life before wine, and today it is one of the most reliable and characterful blends in the region.

The vineyards sit in Wilyabrup, right at the heart of Margaret River, where gravelly loam soils over clay and a strong maritime influence shape the wines. Cooling afternoon sea breezes from the Indian Ocean stretch the growing season, allowing Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon to ripen slowly while retaining bright natural acidity. This is classic Margaret River terroir, built for whites with freshness, texture and longevity rather than overt aromatics.

Pierro is the life’s work of Dr Michael Peterkin, one of the region’s most respected and uncompromising figures. Since founding the estate in 1979, Peterkin has championed low yields, meticulous vineyard work and traditional winemaking techniques inspired by Bordeaux. The L.T.C. blend is fermented largely in older French oak, a deliberate choice that builds texture and complexity without obvious oak flavour, setting it apart from more straightforward Sauvignon Blanc styles.

In the glass, the wine is layered and composed. Citrus, lemon curd and white peach lead, followed by subtle tropical notes, fresh herbs and a gentle flinty edge. As it opens, more savoury characters emerge. Beeswax, lanolin and a faint nuttiness give depth and intrigue. The palate is beautifully textured, with Semillon providing weight and structure while Sauvignon Blanc brings lift and drive. Acidity is fresh but integrated, carrying the wine through a long, dry and quietly powerful finish.

This is a white wine made for the table and for time. It shines with seafood, grilled fish, roast chicken, creamy pasta or dishes with herbs and richness. While delicious on release, it also rewards cellaring, comfortably evolving over eight to twelve years as it develops more honeyed, toasty and savoury complexity. Pierro L.T.C. Sauvignon Blanc Semillon is a Margaret River classic, serious without being stern, and a must have for lovers of textured, age worthy Australian whites.
