2024 Pizzini Pavona Pinot Grigio, King Valley

The Pizzini Pavona Pinot Grigio from Victoria’s King Valley is a zesty, cool-climate white that practically dances out of the glass. The Pizzini family, pioneers of Italian varietals in Australia, have been growing vines in the region since the 1980s, bringing a little slice of the Alto Adige and Friuli to the heart of the High Country. With the Pavona label (meaning ‘peacock’ in Italian), they nod to both beauty and flamboyance – and the wine follows suit.

Crafted by Joel Pizzini, this Pinot Grigio is textbook King Valley – clean, vibrant and made with a food-lover’s heart. Expect aromas of Nashi pear, green apple, lemon blossom and fresh almond. The palate is dry, with crisp acidity and a chalky phenolic line that adds texture and makes it more than just a pretty face. There's a whisper of white nectarine and citrus pith on the finish, making it a perfect aperitivo wine but also a killer match with grilled prawns, Vietnamese rice paper rolls, or a crunchy fennel and orange salad.
