2025 Dal Zotto Pinot Grigio, King Valley

Dal Zotto Pinot Grigio is a crisp, vibrant white from Victoria’s King Valley, showcasing the region’s cool-climate finesse and Italian heritage. The Dal Zotto family, originally from Valdobbiadene in northern Italy, planted their first vines in the 1980s and were among the pioneers of Italian varieties in Australia. Their Pinot Grigio is made in the classic northern Italian style: fresh, mineral, and delicately aromatic, perfectly suited to the cool slopes of the King Valley.

The vineyards are planted on gravelly alluvial soils in the upper reaches of the valley, where cold nights and sunny days allow the grapes to ripen slowly, building flavour intensity while retaining bright natural acidity. Grapes are harvested early in the season to preserve freshness, then gently pressed and fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel. No oak is used, ensuring the wine remains clean, pure, and fruit-driven, with a subtle savoury edge that makes it highly food friendly.

In the glass, Dal Zotto Pinot Grigio is pale straw with green flecks. Aromas of pear, green apple, lemon zest, and white flowers rise delicately from the glass. The palate is light to medium bodied and refreshingly dry, with crisp citrus and orchard fruit flavours supported by lively acidity and a fine mineral thread. A subtle almond note lingers on the clean, zesty finish, adding a touch of Italian authenticity.

This wine is superb with fresh seafood like grilled prawns or calamari, salads with citrus dressing, light pasta dishes, or soft cheeses.
