Preserved lemon, sparkler flint and canned peaches. The slight smoky reduction adds an edge to the ripe orchard fruit. Oak spice is filled with mustard seed and dried fennel. Some chamomile and honeycomb. This is rich and mouth-filling, with its curves on full display. A bolder style for the region and a great addition to the Printhie line-up. Drink to 2032.

93 points Shanteh Wale for Halliday Wine Companion, June 2026

The Topography is a blend of Chardonnay grown in Printhie’s cool climate vineyards on the slopes of Gaanha Bula / Mount Canobolas at elevations ranging from 750 to 1,100 meters. Among the highest plantings in Australia, the elevation brings cold nights, slow ripening and naturally high acidity, giving the wine energy, precision and a distinctly regional stamp.

A richer style of Orange region Chardonnay, this will pair well with grilled seafood and chicken served with richer sauces. Drinking well on release, it could also be cellared for several years.

About this producer

Printhie Wines was established by Jim and Ruth Swift in 1996 when they planted the first vines on the family’s property near Molong in the Orange region. Their sons Ed and Dave returned to the family business in the early 2000s and have overseen the expansion of the estate to 33 hectares. Today four estate vineyards span elevations from 630 to 1,070 metres in a region defined by altitude. The continental climate and long, cool growing season produce wines of natural aromatic lift and restrained structure. With experienced winemaker Drew Tuckwell at the helm since 2008, Printhie has become regarded as one of the region’s most consistent producers across its wide range of wines.
