2025 Printhie Topography Pinot Gris, Orange

The latest release of the beautiful Topography Pinot Gris from Printhie Wines, with the previous two vintages vintage rated 95 points by Halliday Wine Companion.

Showing rose gold hues, the wine opens with inviting, floral and spicy pear aromas that spill into the harmonious and textural medium-weight palate of ripe, warming fruit. The minimal 1.4g/L residual (natural) sugar barely registers, the wine finishing long and dry.

Try with Chiang Mai pork and ginger curry, or perhaps some crispy Korean seafood and spring onion pancakes.

The fruit for the wine was harvested from the original Printhie vineyard near Molong at 630 meters elevation. Pinot Gris is the only white grape variety grown here, the site chosen due to Printhie’s desire to produce a varietal wine that leans towards the richer, Alsatian styles without relying on sugar for texture.

The fruit is sourced from two blocks within the vineyard and fermented in small batches with varies vinification applied to each, the final wine a blend of the lots deemed suitable for the style of this wine, while the others are blended into Printhie’s Mountain Range tier of Pinot Gris.

About this producer

Printhie Wines was established by Jim and Ruth Swift in 1996 when they planted the first vines on the family’s property near Molong in the Orange region.

Their sons Ed and Dave returned to the family business in the early 2000s and have overseen the expansion of the estate to 33 hectares. Today four estate vineyards span elevations from 630 to 1,070 metres in a region defined by altitude. The continental climate and long, cool growing season produce wines of natural aromatic lift and restrained structure.

With experienced winemaker Drew Tuckwell at the helm since 2008, Printhie has become regarded as one of the region’s most consistent producers across its wide range of wines.
