A blend of 55/43/2% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/malbec. 16–20 days on skins and matured in seasoned hogsheads. A bright, medium crimson red. Another very well-made, ridiculously priced cabernet blend from Rob Hall. Aromas of cassis, cedar and a touch of violets lead onto the medium-bodied, well-balanced and already delicious palate. The colour is a deep ruby crimson with youthful purple highlights. Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and red plum are layered with violet, cedar and a touch of bay leaf. The palate is bright and beautifully proportioned, combining juicy dark fruits with silky tannins and lively acidity. Hints of graphite, dried herbs and gentle spice add complexity before a long, savoury finish that is unmistakably Yarra Valley.
