A cracking pinot noir from the '24 vintage that picked up a double gold medal at the 2025 New Zealand International Wine Show and represents some serious value for money! Bright macerated raspberry and dark cherry fruit cut with hints of exotic spice, dried citrus rind, leaf litter and dried meaty nibs. Juicy raspberry fruit leads the charge here, with silty tannins and a real sense of drinking joy. It’s delicious.

From the dramatic, rugged landscapes of Central Otago comes a Pinot Noir that captures the purity and vibrancy of the region. Rockburn takes its name from the historic gold mining past of the area, where “burn” refers to a stream and reflects the wild terrain that surrounds its vineyards. Sourced from carefully selected sites across Central Otago’s subregions, including Gibbston and Cromwell Basin, Crimson Peak showcases the influence of schist rich soils, intense sunlight and cool alpine nights. These conditions produce Pinot Noir with bright fruit, fine tannins and natural acidity.
Bright ruby with vivid crimson hues, the aromatics are lifted and inviting. Wild strawberry, red cherry and raspberry lead, followed by subtle spice, dried thyme and a gentle earthy undertone. There is a freshness and clarity that reflect Central Otago’s cool continental climate.
On the palate it is medium bodied, supple and beautifully balanced. Juicy red berry fruit flows across fine, silky tannins and vibrant acidity, delivering both energy and length. Hints of clove and discreet oak add texture without overshadowing the fruit. The finish is clean, savoury and persistent, lingering with cherry skin and soft spice.
Pair with roast duck, grilled salmon, pork belly with apple glaze or mushroom risotto. Enjoy now for its vibrancy and perfume, or cellar confidently for six to ten years as it develops further savoury complexity and integration.
