Award-winning Central Otago Pinot from a steep schist vineyard in Alexandra
98 points & Double Gold Medal NZ International Wine Show 2026
The Artisan Reserve is a barrel-selected Pinot Noir from hillside home vineyard on schist-rock in the Alexandra sub-region of Central Otago.
Elegantly styled and composed, the wine greets with lifted aromas of dark cherries, crushed raspberries and sweet Doris plums, light notes of savoury nuts and spice starting to emnerge as the wine sits in the glass. The palate is equally satisfying with excellent concentration of flavour, brilliantly framed by high-quality polished tannins.
Harmonious and engaging, this would pair well with roast lamb and venison, wild mushroom risotto and aged hard cheeses.
More about this wine
Selected, ripe, hand-harvested Pinot Noir grapes were carefully fermented to preserve the delicate aromatics and build polished, fine-grained tannins. The gently pressed wine was matured for thirteen months in French oak barrels, with the best barrels selected for the final blend as the pinnacle expression of the vintage and the vineyard.
About this producer
Shaky Bridge was established in 1973 by the Grant family who remain its current day owners. The 16 hectares of estate vineyard blocks in Central Otago’s Alexandra sub-region vary in soil and microclimate, with Pinot Noir the focus from the beginning. Winemaking is today a collaboration between second-generation Dave Grant and Mike Kush who also overseas winery at large.
